Lohri is a vibrant Punjabi winter harvest festival celebrated on January 13th every year, marking the end of winter and the longest night. Primarily celebrated in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and by Punjabi communities worldwide, Lohri revolves around a bonfire around which families and communities gather to sing, dance bhangra, and share traditional foods like rewri, gajak, and popcorn.
लोहड़ी पंजाब का प्रमुख शीतकालीन फसल उत्सव है जो हर साल 13 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है। अलाव (बॉनफायर) के चारों ओर परिवार और समुदाय एकत्र होकर गीत गाते हैं, भांगड़ा करते हैं और रेवड़ी, गज़क खाते हैं।
Lohri ka sambandh Dulla Bhatti ki lok katha se hai. Mughal kaal mein Dulla Bhatti ek Robin Hood jaisa yoddha tha jisne gareebon ki madad ki aur apmaan se bachaayi ladkiyon ki shaadi karaayi. "Sunder Mundriye" — Lohri ka mashoor geet — Dulla Bhatti ki isi kahani par based hai.
Bonfire: Shaam ko gali ya mohalle mein badi aag jalaayi jaati hai. Parikrama: Log aag ke chaaron taraf ghoomte hain aur til, moongfali, gur, popcorn aag mein daalte hain. Bhangra-Gidda: Dhol ki thap par mard bhangra aur auraten gidda karti hain. Naye Couple aur Naye Baby: Jis ghar mein naya vivah ya naya baby hua ho, unki pehli Lohri bahut dhamakedar manayi jaati hai. Khaana: Sarson da Saag, Makki di Roti, Rewri, Gajak, Moongfali, Til ke Ladoo aur Gur — Lohri ke khaas pakwaan hain.
